Squirrel soccer and Goth Christmas
We woke to the sound of squirrels playing tag on the roof just above our bed. They must have raced back and forth for at least thirty minutes. Okay, maybe not tag, maybe it was a game of acorn soccer, because in between the leaping and running were periodic sounds of acorns rolling around, or hitting the roof. As far as we could figure out, they were leaping into the oak tree beside the house, knocking off an acorn, then leaping onto the roof as the acorn fell, and running like crazy after each other. It was funny, but not… Read More

Not so Cranky Today
Warning: If you didn’t read yesterday’s blog, this one may make no sense to you. I was feeling very stressed yesterday with the dog trainer coming and interrupting my writing schedule. It was frustrating at first, but by the time we go back to the house with Pip, I was strangely more relaxed than when we began. My ankle held up better than the last time I tried to walk the dog, which has been awhile. Pip is getting a little house bound from lack of exercise, but between Jon’s knee surgery and my ankle, he’s sort of out of… Read More

Cranky
Woke up at 4 A. M. Made myself stay in bed until 5:30 on the chance I’d fall back asleep, no dice. Next time, if I lay out my clothes for the next day I can quietly dress and get started on the morning. As is, I got less sleep, but didn’t get as big a jump on the day. I mean if I’m going to wake up, might as well get to work. Dawn is just lighting the sky to grayish white, even the first light of day seems tired and washed out. Maybe I’m projecting? Could be.

Happy Thanksgiving
Ok, its Thanksgiving night now, and we’ve just gotten back from being at my parent’s house. We had the traditional Turkey and dressing, (though there is a religious difference on that. Some of those heathens like dressing with out raisins.) as well as baked Sweet Potatoes (no marshmallows!), Rolls, Cranberry Sauce (Fresh made, not canned) and Turkey Gravy. Afterwards was a selection of pies, Pumpkin, Strawberry-Rhubarb, and for myself and my cousin Tom, Lemon. The Lemon pie didn’t set up quite right, but that didn’t bother either of us, we just asked for a serving spoon, and dug in.

Down the Rabbit Hole
Yesterday I had nineteen pages, but at the end of the day I was convinced I’d gone down a rabbit hole. What do I mean by that? I first heard "rabbit hole" used for writing in a workshop taught by Emma Bull, Will Shetterly, and Stephen Gould, way back before I’d sold anything. Emma used the term, for those plot points that take you away from where you thought you were going and lead you either to Wonderland, and a great idea, or lead you down a pointless adventure that doesn’t belong in the book, or doesn’t work at all. … Read More

New Blog Enigine
Here’s the new blog format that Jon and I have been working on. We’ve changed the background color, yet again. It should be a blue marble, if it isn’t let us know. We also put up pictures. So many of you have asked for pictures of my office, and even asked for us to put a camera at my desk so you could see me work. So, not doing the camera. Let these still photos show that when I write the interesting stuff is all invisible in my head. You actually have two pictures of me working at both my… Read More
