Bullet: We Have a Cover!
Here is the cover for Bullet, the Anita Blake novel for June 2010. It has only been approved for minutes. Once upon at ime I would have said, it was hot off the presses, but these days it’s cool off the computer screen.

Ghosts
One of my lessons for this year is to learn how to play as hard as I work, or at least play more. The point is to enjoy what I have, what I’ve accomplished, and sometimes I forget that. I make everything a burden instead of a gift. I was raised to think everything was potentially bad. If someone was nice to you, they wanted something. If you were in love, then you’d lose that person eventually. My grandmother was a profoundly unhappy person. I’m not sure she truly enjoyed much of anything. Even when she was happy she was… Read More

Our Tech is Down
No e-mail. No blog. No Forum. And, I can’t get on Facebook due to some issue with the e-mail. Twitter is up, but that is it. That has been it for three days. We need a tech fix. This blog is actually a test to see if the blog is working. We’ve managed to reach my official website and the last blog posted. If this posts then the blog is up, but e-mail, Facebook, will still be down for us until the techies half-way around the world actually do their jobs correctly. Did that sound bitter; angry? I’m trying not… Read More

Podcast for March 2010
I just finished doing a new Podcast. Hopefully it will be the start of a trend. I think we’ll try for a podcast about once a month. I answered some questions from my forum. I also answered a question I’d been getting on both Twitter and Facebook. What are copyedits? Answered in the podcast. I talk about Flirt, Bullet, and the book I’ll be working on after that.
One of the things that has prevented me from doing more frequent podcasts is a certain techno-phobia, but I’ve nearly conquered that. The other stumbling block was my perfectionist streak. But… Read More

Morning with Hawk, Squirrel, and Musings
I was going to blog about watching “Up” last night, or trying to, but when I opened the drapes on the living room windows this morning I got a surprise. A large hawk was sitting on the ground underneath one of the bird feeders. At first I thought she was a young Red-Tail, because of the size, but it was a Cooper’s Hawk, all streaked with her I’m-a-teenager-feathers. But she is the second young Cooper’s hawk that is frequenting our yard this year that is that big and beefy. I’ve never seen them this big. I expected the hawk to… Read More

The Adventure of the Leather Dress
Part II of Highlights from our out of town visit, or, The Adventure of the Leather Dress:
First, I’m allergic to wool. Yes, that does mean that most of what my friend Wendi knits is “death” to me. She has to sanitize the house for me, but luckily my allergy to wool seems to be contact only. I must touch the stuff, so she just hides most of her yarny goodness in the other guest room and I have to not touch her current project. Though the plaid on the loom is actually cotton so it’s safe for me. Yay!… Read More

Highlights from our Getaway Part I
Jon and I went away for a long weekend, or a short week: five days. Either way, here are the highlights from that getaway:
First, I actually didn’t work while I was gone. I didn’t check e-mail, or twitter, or facebook, or myspace, or any other social network. I made two notes on the last day we were there, because they were new ideas. New ideas run away and escape if you do not write them down. This maybe the longest real vacation I’ve ever allowed myself. Is that frightening, impressive, or both?
We visited our friends Wendi and Daven.… Read More
